- "Who do we contact about ordering more pledge pins? And how do we go about reserving one of the displays?"
- "I know we elected four alumni to the International Board at Conclave, but I never really understood what they do. Could you help explain it?"
QUESTION OF THE WEEK? --- "What does an Undergraduate Rep do at an International Board Meeting, and how is that decided?"
* RESPONSE --- Two undergraduate representatives serve on the FarmHouse International Board - currently, Matt Turner (OK '99), and Pat Dixon (ID '02).
The FarmHouse International by-laws state that each undergrad rep shall come from the undergraduate chapters and serve a 1-year term, on a rotating basis by charter date. One rep starts April 1st, one starts September 1st each year. The next chapter that will get a chance to seat an undergrad rep will be Minnesota - taking over for Turner in April 2003. Tennessee will seat the rep that follows Dixon in September 2003.
Undergrad reps:
- attend all meetings of the International Board, bringing a student's perspective to discussions;
- have full voting rights at all meetings;
- represent more than 1,300 undergraduate FarmHouse members;
- attend and assist with the FarmHouse Leadership Academy in January;
- attend and assist with Conclave programs, activities and events.
The Board and staff find our Undergraduate Rep's input and perspective being vital to our planning and programming efforts.
Feel free to email either Matt at tmatthew65@hotmail.com or Pat at P_Diddy22@hotmail.com if you have topics, concerns or questions you'd like for the Board to address - as these two men serve as the voice for our undergraduate chapters.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK? --- "I know we elected four alumni to the International Board at Conclave, but I never really understood what they do. Could you help explain it?"
RESPONSE -- The FarmHouse International Board includes eight alumni members who are elected at the biennial Conclaves (four per Conclave for 4-year terms) and two undergraduate representatives. The undergrad rep's serve one year on a rotating basis, in order of chapters' Chartering dates. All men volunteer their time while serving on the International Board.
The duties and responsibilities of the International Board include:
1. To determine the vision, objectives and goals of the Fraternity with input from the FarmHouse staff and membership.
2. To hire and evaluate the chief paid staff person (executive director).
3. To set policy and ensure that policies (alcohol, disciplinary, etc.) and bylaws are adhered to.
4. To approve budgets and ensure the fiscal soundness of the organization.
5. To attend all meetings of the Executive Board (typically a fall and spring meeting and a meeting prior to Conclave).
6. To work closely with chapters and associations on an advisory basis.
7. To conduct themselves in an exemplary manner.
8. To consult with such chapters as are determined by the Executive Board and staff.
9. To speak out in support of FarmHouse and to seek out opportunities to bring favorable publicity to the Fraternity.
10. To be available to serve on special assignments as directed by the president.
International Board members are each assigned to conduct a minimum of one chapter visit per year and most either assist as a program facilitator/small group leader at the FarmHouse Leadership Academy or at the Regional Leadership Conferences (which won't take place in 2005 due to the 100th Anniversary Celebration).
At its fall meeting from Oct. 14-17, the International Board will be devoting time to short and long-term planning efforts. You can contact any of the International Board members via http://www.farmhouse.org/int_board.htm ...
