Overview and Mission
Due to the generosity and financial support of Monsanto, the International Fraternity is pleased to announce the creation of a new and unique educational leadership program for undergraduate men — To Be and Become…The FarmHouse
Emerging Talent Retreat—the first of its kind within the Fraternity and the first new educational program at the
International level in 10 years.
The mission of To Be and Become is to assist the FarmHouse man in discovering his unique individual talents early in his
collegiate career, so that he may build upon these skills to better himself, his chapter and his academic and professional
pursuits. Achieved through an exciting three‐day retreat comprised of outdoor adventure learning, facilitated workshops
and team building activities geared toward the development of leadership and personal growth, To Be and Become is a
once in a life‐time opportunity for FarmHouse men.
Curriculum and Format
To Be and Become will utilize StrengthsQuest as the curriculum foundation for session and program content. StrengthsQuest
informs men about their strongest talents. Brothers will explore ways in which to maximize and build upon these
strengths and natural talents for the betterment of themselves, their chapter, their campus, their relationships and their
community.
The program is a three‐day institute set in a retreat‐style environment. Events will incorporate the four‐fold mission of our Fraternity allowing for daily reflection, social interactions with brothers, physical development and one‐of‐a‐kind educational opportunities in an exciting and adventurous outdoor learning atmosphere.
Participants, Applications and Selection
Those invited to apply and participate in the To Be and Become retreat are men completing their first‐year of
their undergraduate education in the spring. One man from every chapter and colony will be selected to attend. Brothers
are invited to submit a written application to the International office. The submitted application must receive the chapter
president and advisor team endorsement. More than one member from a chapter may apply, but only one man from each
chapter or colony will be selected.
